'Ankle boots with laces, zipper or elastic' workshop
This master class allows students to create ankle boots either with zipper, eyelets or elastic. Students learn how to use the same pattern to make several different types of felted boots; master shoemaking skills to create felted orthopaedic shoes.
Tentative program of the workshop
Day 1. Measurements & template
• taking measurements;• building basic template for boots;• calculating % of shrinking wool;• the layout of wool (the sequence of the layout of the wool);• grind wool, working on the template;• giving volume to the workpiece;• rolling felt, working with the product to give shape.
Day 2. Shoelasts & heel box
• shrinkage of workpiece to shoe size;• work on possible mistakes;• variety of shoelast and soles, how to select right shoe last and sole;• making heel box for boots;• preparing boots for installing the heel box and inner soles.
Day 3. Zipper, elastic or laces
• explaining how to install zipper;• installing the insoles in the shoes;• leather décor installation;• preparing the boots to put on the soles.
Day 4. Soles & accessories
• attaching soles to the shoe;• stitching soles;• installing eyelets, zipper, elastic.
