On practical usage of felt for livelihood in the region.

In academia, first research on felting was published by Berthold Laufer in American Anthropologist journal in 1930 (Laufer, 1930). Within expedition to China, Laufer explored manufacture process of non-woven fabrics and its history. Autor emphasizes that nomadic people created and developed the felt technique as it is strongly integrated in their religious ceremonies and livelihood (ibid.). The presence of a great amount of felt products among the northern nomads is evidenced by numerous images on Scythian gold artifacts.
