“Felt & Fun: Light & Sealed in Three Days”

During this class, students will create an outfit in one felted piece.
They will learn how to take measurements, make patterns, and calculate wool shrinkage. Additionally, participants will explore different decorative techniques, incorporating various materials such as fabrics, fibers, and textures into their felted designs.

Students will also discover quick and effective felting techniques to create high-quality garments with unique details. The final piece can be customized with additional fabrics—like the lace appliqué shown in the sample design—making it fully reversible.

If desired, participants can modify the design into a vest or decorate it with alternative textiles for a personalized touch.

“Felt it, have fun, and take home a stylish, one-of-a-kind outfit in just three days!”

Workshop details

  • Artboard 1Created with Sketch (http://www.bohemiancoding.com/sketch)

    Difficulty level: Advanced*

  • Optimal number of participants: 7-9

  • Timing: 8 hours/3 working days

* for participants without any clothing making experience it is suggested to create a vest or tunic without sleeves.

Learning outcomes

Within workshop, students will learn:● how to take measurements;● how to build shoulder patterns adapted for felting based on their measurements. Later, one can independently make a pattern for another person;● modelling on a basic pattern and create different models of cloths. Note: different types of silhouette can be made on a basic pattern;● how to correctly and proportionally increase the pattern with a different wool shrinkage coefficient;● creating a three-dimensional ornament, based on your drowning design;● about working with sander;● different methods of felting in volume;● how to make a felt product with smooth and straight edges;● how to create a product according to your design, taking into account your figure.
